Brighton Center
The Brighton
Center is a non-profit organization that works to create
opportunities for individuals and families to reach self-sufficiency
through family support services, education and leadership throughout
the communities of northern Kentucky. Brighton Center offers
job seeker assistance programs, job placement, assessment testing,
career interest testing, support services and training.

Department for
Adult Education and Literacy
The Department
for Adult Education and Literacy (DAEL) funds a network of local, instructional programs throughout
Kentucky. These programs are designed to assist adults in acquiring
knowledge, upgrading their educational levels and developing the
potential to achieve their goals in the workplace, at home, and in
society.

Department for the Blind
Brenda Kramer and
Cindi Bowles, counselors from the
Kentucky Department for the Blind
(DFB) are on-site 8:00am to
4:30pm at the One Stop Career Alliance Center in Florence. Kentucky
Department for the Blind (DFB)
counselors work in conjunction with
Department for Employment Services (DES) staff to provide job
search assistance and specialized
services to customers. You may

anytime to access the services of DES and the other
partner agencies located in the WorkForce Development Center. The
Resource Center at this location
offers assistive technology to the visually

Department for the Blind’s KY Jobline provides you with the ability to search
America's Job Bank without the use of a computer. Job seekers can
use a keypad telephone to have the latest job openings spoken to
them over the phone via a computerized job bank system.

assistance to clients meeting the eligibility criteria:
The
Kentucky Transitional Assistance
Program (KTAP) provides financial or medical assistance
to needy dependent children in Kentucky and the parents, or
relatives, with whom the children are living. KTAP helps families
find jobs or get training that leads to a job.
The Medicare Program
is a Health Insurance Program for people who have worked for at
least 10 years in Medicare-covered employment and 65 years of age or
older, some disabled people under 65 years of age, and people with
End-Stage Renal Disease permanent kidney failure treated with
dialysis or a transplant.
They provide food stamps
for those who
meet income and resource limits; Temporary Assistance for Needy
Families (TANF) to families with children under 18, deprived of
parental support due to the death, absences, or disability of one or
both parents; Medical assistance for families with children under 18
and elderly adults.
Department of Training
and
ReEmployment
The Department
of Training and ReEmployment (DTR) is responsible for the
administration of federally funded employment and training programs.
DTR is the oversight agency for Title I, Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
and federal National Emergency Grant funds which provide
services to adults, youth, and dislocated
workers.
The WIA replaces the former Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA). The
legislation mandates that the major portion of funds be passed to
Kentucky's eleven (11) Local
Workforce Investment Boards for the provision of services under
this Act.

Department
of Vocational Rehabilitation
Department of
Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) works closely with the
Department for Employment Services and other partners and agencies
within the Northern Kentucky area to provide employment services to
individuals with disabilities.
DVR counselor Don Hiatt
is available from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday in
the One-Stop Career Alliance Center at 8020 Veterans Memorial

Goodwill Industries Joins Northern Kentucky One Stop
Bruce
Keller, representing Goodwill’s
Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program, is the Northern Kentucky
One-Stop Program’s newest partner.
Keller, a 26-year veteran of the
Air Force, was brought on board with the assistance of Rob Walker, a
veterans employment representative at the Florence One-Stop.
Keller, working out of the
Covington One-Stop, will be available to assist any homeless/jobless
veteran. The program assists with a variety of needs to include job
placement, transportation, food, housing deposits, first months
rent, work clothes and other necessities. Recently, the number of clients taking advantage of
this program has grown rapidly. Although the number is growing fast,
the job placements are also growing quickly with the help of
Covington’s Employment Specialist Al Schippers and the local
veteran employment representatives.

Job
Corps is the largest residential education and training program
in the United States for disadvantaged youth ages 16 through 24. The
mission of the Job Corps program is to help economically
disadvantaged young adults become responsible, employable and
productive citizens by providing them with opportunities to develop
the vocational, educational and social skills needed to succeed. For

Children's Health Insurance Program (KCHIP)
What is KCHIP? The Kentucky
Children's Health
Insurance Program
(KCHIP) provides free health insurance for Kentucky's children at no
cost to the family. Uninsured children from birth to 19 years of age
who live in families with income at or below 200% of the Federal
Poverty Level is eligible.
(For a family of four that is $35,300 a year.)
KCHIP covers
everything from checkups to prescriptions, broken bones to booster
shots, eyeglasses, hearing aids, dental care, behavioral health,
hospital care and more.

Kentucky
Relay Service
The Kentucky
Relay Service provides an invaluable service to hearing
and speech impaired citizens in Kentucky. Now
TTY and VCO users can use the relay system to "read" any
message on a voice answering machine.
On April 1, 2001 711
was activated as the three-digit number for relay access in
Kentucky. 711 is the
newest and quickest way to connect to the relay service anytime,
anywhere. It has been designated by the Federal Communications
Commission as the national three-digit number for relay access and
will be available in any state in the U.S. by October 1, 2001. For

Northern Kentucky
Area Development District The
Northern Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD) has a service
delivery area in Northern Kentucky which serves eight counties,
including Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Owen,
and Pendleton. NKADD administers and oversees employment and
training programs to economically disadvantaged individuals
including youth, TANF recipients, Veterans, offenders, minorities,
disabled, school dropouts and older workers. The NKADD oversees the
programs provided through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).

Northern
Kentucky Community Action Commission
The Northern
Kentucky Community Action Commission, Inc. provides services in
Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Owen &
Pendleton counties. Services offered to low income households include:
Housing, Food, Employment including the Senior Community Services
Employment Program and Title I WIA (Adult youth and Dislocated
Workers), Energy Assistance, Home Repair and Weatherization, Family
Preservation/Reunification, Year Round Youth Program, Educational
Scholarships, County Headstart Program, Childcare Assistance, and
Parenting classes. The main office is located at 20 West Pike

Northern Kentucky Family Health (NKFH)
Northern Kentucky Family Health
provides affordable, innovated health care services to residents of
an eight county region of Northern Kentucky. NKFH offers health care
to assist primarily the medically underserved,
to achieve and maintain good
health. In addition to providing primary medical and dental
services NKFH offers a number of other programs and services, School
Based Health Services, Reach Out and Read Program, Patient Support
Services,
Medical Care Provider for the Homeless, and a Hispanic Medical Care
Program.
There are seven community
health centers located throughout Northern Kentucky.
Northern Kentucky One-Stop Career Alliance
What is the "Northern Kentucky One-Stop
Career Alliance"? It is a one stop site overseen by
the Northern Kentucky Area
Development District, and administered by the Department for
Employment Services, Department for Vocational Rehabilitation and
NKADD. These centers make available numerous
training, education, and employment programs in a single,
customer-focused, user-friendly service system where the public can
go for assistance regarding G.E.D. classes, unemployment
insurance, resume preparation, student grants and loans, job search
assistance, career planning, job placement, tuition assistance,
internet job searches, Vocational Rehabilitation, two-year degree
programs, older workers assistance, labor market information, and
vocational training. At these centers all the partnering agencies are co-housed in one building for the convenience of
the public. All services are

GED and Academic Upgrade classes are offered along with a number of

test by December 31, 2001, or you will have to start over with the
