About
Our Services
The
Department for Employment Services (DES) maintains the largest resource
of job openings available in your area and in the state through the
Kentucky Job Bank. And because we are a part of a national network of
Employment Services across the United States we are able to connect you
with employment opportunities nationwide through America's Job Bank.
Employment Services is recognized nationally by job seekers and
employers for our ability to provide access to employment related
services conveniently through one source.
In addition to being
the largest repository of job openings, DES is also responsible for the
administration of a number of programs
and services
that are designed to assist individuals with specific needs.
Where Do I Start?
Your first step is to
contact or register with the Kentucky Department for Employment Services
to let us know the type of services in which you are interested. You may visit the DES
Office that is
in your area to obtain personal assistance. Soon
you will be able to Self-Register
on-line. Until this service is added you can
Self-Register in any DES office. You may find it useful to print a copy
of the DES
Registration Form and complete it before going into the
office. By having all your information ready when you go into the
office your Self-Registration process will go much faster.
Job
Search and Job Referral Assistance
When you register you will be asked to
provide information relating to your work history, experience,
education, special training, your interests and any specific skills you
possess. In essence you are simply supplying the kind of
information that is normally included on your resume. This allows
us to conduct a more effective job search for you. By matching
your skills and qualifications to the requirements specified by the
employer, there is greater potential the employer will consider
you for the position.
