four components of the Career Kit that
effectively encompasses all aspects of career
development. Built into all the components is O*NET, an
occupational
database with descriptions and skill sets for specific
occupations. Employers will find this section useful to
help develop and write job descriptions for your open
positions.
Community
Employment Bulletin Board (CEBB)
The
CEBB allows employers to find out about
local and statewide Job Fairs and other employment related
events. Your open positions can be listed here as well as your
company profile.
Kentucky Employer
Council
The Kentucky Employer
Council and the Local Job Service Employer Committees (JSEC) are
employer committees whose input enables the Department for
Employment Services to provide the highest quality service possible
to employers and job seekers alike.

is an employment related show that is carried on Insight Communications, Channel
6.
Employers listing their openings with the DES
Job Bank (859-371-0808) may request that their positions be released
for media advertisement through DES, allowing them to reach a portion of the
labor force that is often missed by other traditional recruitment efforts.
Job seekers looking for that first job, next job, a better job, or

The mission of the Northern
Kentucky Chamber of Commerce is to provide leadership and
business advocacy to create strong businesses, good jobs and an
exceptional quality of life. The Chamber is an organization of
businesses and volunteer community leaders. It is the largest business
organization in the region.
Older Workers
The One Stop Career Alliance of Northern Kentucky
Center located at 8020 Veterans Memorial Drive has representatives from the Community
Action Agency Older Worker Program on-site Monday through Friday.

services to the older worker.
Older Workers who may have been overlooked in
the job market in the past are now finding themselves to be a hot product in
today’s economy. Older workers are now a significant resource in the labor
force. Employers who do not make this discovery will continue to struggle to
find the skilled workers needed to compete effectively in this strong economy.
There are many organizations
available to assist older workers re-enter the work force, upgrade their skills
and find suitable employment. In Northern Kentucky the Community Action Agency is one of the organizations that provides information to
educate the older worker, the employer and the local community about the value
of the older worker and the training opportunities and other resources available
to facilitate the employment of older workers.

The Tri-County
Economic Development Corporation (Tri-ED) is ranked among the top
ten economic development agencies in North America. Northern
Kentucky has experienced tremendous economic growth over the past two

Workforce
Investment Act
The Workforce Investment Act
(WIA) Program provides specialized services such as employment
counseling and training to those who have been permanently laid off
due to lack of work or a plant closure and are unlikely to return to
work in their previous occupation or industry. WIA Services are
available to eligible adults, youth, and dislocated workers.
The Department
of Training and ReEmployment is the state agency
responsible for the administration of the employment and training
programs funded by WIA. The Northern
Kentucky Area Development District (NKADD) oversees
the WIA services in the
Northern Kentucky area. Questions and inquiries regarding

The One-Stop Career Alliance
System is operated by Department
for Employment Services, Department
for Vocational Rehabilitation and NKADD. Tim

Youth
Services
There are many agencies,
organizations, private and non-profit entities in
Northern Kentucky who do offer many specialized services targeting
youth. Additionally there are a number of state and national
organizations that offer youth programs, information and guidance.
